Driving limousines is a fun job. Generally, people are happy to see you and happy with the service when it is finished. It feels good to play a part in the special moments of peoples lives.
Last night was one of the better ones.
A young lady was going to prom. She had no idea that her family had rented a limousine for her. As I pulled up in the limo, she and her grandparents were outside taking pictures...You could see the confusion on her face as the limo pulled up.
When I parked and got out, she asked "Is this for me?"
I introduced myself and told her that I would be her driver tonight. She was so excited! She exclaimed "it is such a large car just for me, but this is so exciting!"
At that point, I led her to the passenger door and opened it for her.
Inside, was her brother, who she had not seen in a long time, and who had just flown in from Denver that morning as a surprise to accompany her to her prom.
The scream of shock, surprise and absolute joy was deafening, and she burst into tears as she hugged him tightly. (It was windy and some pollen must have gotten into my eyes, because they watered up too.)
She had absolutely no idea that any of this was going to happen and it was obvious that she was thrilled. I know without a doubt that this will be a cherrished memory and that she will remember her prom forever!
It was a wonderful evening and one more for the memory banks as to why I love this job.
Thank you!
